Wanted: Hangar in Marin or Sonoma County

I'm looking to relocate my Mooney to either Gnoss Field, Petaluma or (least preferably) Santa Rosa. Anyone have any leads on hangars at those airports? Thank you.
 
No leads, but think twice about basing as Gnoss. That instrument approach SUCKS. Only one, wrong direction, very high minimum for common conditions. Yes I've had to scrub multiple flights that could easily have gotten into STS or O69.
 
We'd love to have you in Petaluma. Call or stop by Petaluma and talk with Bob Patterson the manager. He can give you the skinny on the city owned hangars and the related wait list. I'm not sure how long it is. I believe there may be a private hangar for sale (Port a port) as well that Bob would know about. Then, check out papapetaluma.org and come to our next meeting.

We have turnover, so if there isn't anything immediately, it will probably not be too long before something comes up.

I have been based in airports in many parts of the country over the years and Petaluma is definitely one of the friendliest and most social. The Petaluma Area Pilot's Association is very active with monthly dinner meetings. We usually have the cheapest gas in the area and we are constantly trying to improve the airport. And we like Mooneys. :) Almost as much as we like Comanches.
 
They even tolerate visiting Arrows.
 
I can't speak for other Bay Area airports, but I have been to Petaluma a couple times (with Kim) and I would agree that it is friendly and active. Santa Rosa was also pretty nice.
 
FYI port-a-ports are typically larger than most common T hangars.
 
I drove up to Petaluma airport today and really like it. Met Bob Patterson and put my name on the hangar list. Hope my number comes up soon!

Petaluma has its Airport Commission Mtg on the first Thursday of the month at 6:00 pm in the city council chambers. The Petaluma Area Pilot's Association meets at 5:30 or so on the second Wednesday of the month in the PAPA clubhouse. Dinner is served, usually for $10-12 to cover costs. Brush up on your crosswind skills!
 
The crosswind always comes from the same place. 30-50 degrees from the left. This is the summer, onshore flow that starts up in the afternoon.
 
Gnoss is interesting when there is a quartering tailwind on both ends of the runway so no matter which way you land, you start with a tailwind that keeps shifting as you go down the runway. An eddy will do that if the mountain is close enough to the airport and aligned with the wind flow, as happens at Gnoss.
