Probably will go cheap.Nice plane for like 7k or less
You probably haven't kept up with the 48 170 market. But as a plane, with that on the logs/NTSB it’s a 18k plane in great shape, max 22 if you find a sucker

The 170 buyers all know they've been on their backs, and they don't care.
ooooh, it's polished, it's got history, and it flys great, gimme that.
Don’t forget the tear down inspection.
only AD compliance is required it's a lycoming.Don’t forget the tear down inspection.
That’s a pretty ugly prop strike.
true, but still a 25k aircraft flying. It’s got a metalized wing. Even without the prop strike, it will never fetch the prices that the restored rag wings will get.
Sure looks like 6 cylinders. Lycoming?only AD compliance is required it's a lycoming.
Continental O-145Sure looks like 6 cylinders. Lycoming?
document linked above disagrees ... ???Continental O-145
It's wrong!document linked above disagrees ... ???
no...You goanna buy it Tom? Looks like a nice project for you and it is a pretty plane!

You'd be a nut job not to do a tear down after a strike like that imo. Might be worth it though if you could pick it up for a good price. It would make a nice airplane!only AD compliance is required it's a lycoming.
You'd have to get it very cheap. What does an overhaul cost? The only year of 170 with a fabric wing was 1948 and someone screwed that up by metalizing it. The panel looks terrible and isn't even close to original. It has an old radio. We can't see the interior. And top that off, if you want a 1948, you can get a nice one for $28K. I love guys who want to buy a plane like this and make it their own. They do all the work, then I come in an buy it for less than they have in it!You'd be a nut job not to do a tear down after a strike like that imo. It takes about a week and $2500.00 to change it back.I’d want a rag wing too.
Total cost fora overhaul is about 22kYou'd have to get it very cheap. What does an overhaul cost? The only year of 170 with a fabric wing was 1948 and someone screwed that up by metalizing it. dream on.I want a 170, ready to fly for $25,000 with GPS and at least one VOR needle.
Why in hell would you want a boat anchor radio when a iPad does better?I want a 170, ready to fly for $25,000 with GPS and at least one VOR needle.

170s any year fly better when they are light, IMHO dump every thing in the radio rack, replace with a ADSB compliant transponder, and a Val-Com 2000 and a iPad.
If you ever have to shoot a approach I’d be less than comfy trying to shoot a IAP with my iPad, frankly for that plane I’d just toss in a simple navcom and one ILS head and a basic six pack, not a real IMC rig, but a stuff happens panel, if that makes sense.
