A good friend of mine, and former student, is very active with them in Montana. A great organization of people helping people.

Grace Flight of America (GFA) and the Veterans Airlift Command (VAC) are pleased to announce they have joined together, resulting in the establishment of the premier national charitable flying organization. Joining with Grace Flight of America’s 1,380 pilots, Veterans Airlift Command’s 855 pilots, based in 45 states, will provide seamless, efficient, nationwide service to our country’s wounded warriors, those in need of distant medical treatment, and as a volunteer flying resource in times of national emergencies.

Dave, wanted to share this response I got from a neighbor of mine out here when I sent him the link.

Steve,

Thank you for sending this. I will send it to those on my list.

I can tell you, first hand, that I met a lot of "Mikes" at the 31st Combat Surgical Hospital in Baghdad and at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where I retired in '06.

About once a week, while stationed in Iraq, I would visit the wounded warriors at the 31st CSH. Each time I thought I would never make it out of the building before I would burst into tears. One day when I arrived, and was walking toward the ward, a nurse, who I had seen on numerous visits, but whom I had never really met to even get her name, walked out of an exam room where a Marine had just died. She looked at me and just collapsed into my arms sobbing and saying, "I am so tired of this" . . . . I didn't get out of the building tearless that day.

When I was first stationed at Fort Sam I was assigned to transient quarters across from the new BAMC Hospital. Every day I met and spoke with the Wounded Walking Warriors like Mike. I cannot imagine the pain, emotional and physical, that they will struggle with for the rest of their lives.

Can you imagine your toddler hugging you and you having nothing to hug back with???

God bless our Warriors and their loved ones!

GA folks that aren't rude or entitled

Best,

Dave

Thanks for sending that Steve. Will you be at Gaston's? Looking forward to visiting.

Best,

Dave

I am on the list for VAC; have not had a mission that I could appropriately accept, but am hoping for one.

I'm on the list as a "right seater". My plane doesn't lend itself well for the mission, but I'm willing to assist as needed. I met Mr. Fricke at SnF a couple of years ago. A gentleman in the truest sense.

Thanks for sending that Steve. Will you be at Gaston's? Looking forward to visiting.

Best,

Dave

The plan is to be there with the plane this year. We'll have to share a table.
