I was sitting at the Computer doing my School work about an hour and a half ago, and I heard what sounded like Jet Fighters flying over. As it got louder I could hear it was a Prop Plane. I bolted out the door expecting to see a C-130 Hercules Flying over but saw a V22 Osprey instead!! I've never seen a V22 in person before, much less one flying over my House!!

What a sight! :yesnod:

If you ever make the trip to KAMA, they build them there. They fly them out for testing and them bring a few back at a time in a C-5. My uncle manages TACair up there and he calls me everytime a C-5 is coming in with them. Still have yet to have the time to run up there.

Not to be opportunistic or anything but can you get us a fuel discount at AMA???:D:D:D Ya know, the POA $1 off...

Ha, the best I have ever been able to to is a ramp fee waived. But a flyin discount might be fun... and more do-able.
They have a pretty good restaurant about 30 yards from the front door.

Ha! "the best I have ever been able to do"??? and you want to be a liar ^h^h^h^h awyer? Gotta get them skills on line now!

Okay, okay, I'll settle for a "free" limo ride to an overpriced steak...maybe. Or maybe not, I've driven past that place many times while resisting the rather weak urge to stop in.

Maybe the best bet is to get cheap gas in Oklahoma en route to final destination of Dallas or Houston. Good eatin's there 'thout the hassle of an "international" airport in the middle of ... errr, ummmm, the Tejas panhandle.

Well, I haven't tried REAL hard either. I usually don't take any fuel or enough for it to matter. It's a short trip from KLBB. KLBB and KAMA might be the easiest "international" airports to ever exist. AMA even goes to class E after about 10 pm. Plus it's fun on a slow day and a good x-wind to try and land across the big runway.

The English Field House is right next door to TACair, they have good for for a good price. And I think you can get a coupon for 10% at the FBO.

The Big Texan is a pretty big tourist attraction but the food is decent and it's a fun atmosphere.

Here you go. Taken about a month ago at CRE. He was practicing low approaches and then transitioning back to flight mode. Tower cleared me for takeoff right after this picture was taken - "Caution, wake turbulence". No kidding!

Awesome... Thanks for sharing.

While flying into Tucumcari, NM (KTCC) a few weeks back there was a V-22 that did a touch-and-go. It is a cool bird to watch fly.

Those C-5s are transporting fuselages from Philadelphia where they're assembled by Boeing. Bell installs the wings and nacelles and performs production flight test at KAMA. After that they're flown out for delivery to the Marines or the AirForce.

Sadly, it declares....."Mortars over THIS way!!!"
More so than helicopters? I'm just asking...seems like they are both noisy and get the attention of a mortar crew.

Helicopters aren't as expensive and can take off and land quite a bit faster. Most are better armed, too.

If history says anything, someone will say "hey, let's stick a bunch of guns on it!" Just like they did with quite a few transports like the Huey, Chinook, and rather successfully the AC130. I just don't see it on this one.
