I recently made an account with DUATS and have been learning about what all it has. So far I really like it, and like all the wx info it gives with a standard briefing. However I am wondering how to eliminate all the info that is not in my area. When it says radius i only use the standard 25nm, however I see things such as area forecasts for Florida, from a Miami forecast. Im in TN and I can't figure out why I can see things that are way out of my area. Anyone know how to get the best results when using this service?

I use the DUATS iPad app for access, also ForeFlight.

Synopsis information will include information on far reaching states so that you can follow the weather tends. Same with ARTCC NOTAMS etc.

FF will sort METAR, TAF and FD data by airport along with NOTAMs making things easier. But when you brief and file you'll get the whole report.

Some times requesting an abbreviated briefing will lessen what you get.

Defined location weather with only the reporting stations that you are interested in is the only way that I know of. The normal route/area/radius briefing contents I believe are set by the FAA in the DUAT contract so unless you order everything a la carte, you get what you get.

Sometimes you don't get enough. Flying from CJR to IAD (which I will do today), DUATS doesn't give me the CHO TAF which really is more appropriate for the departure point than the others it does include.

You might want to look into WeatherMeister.com. They format the data into real nice usable format.
