We are looking into upgrading our stack now that the original equipment is getting a bit flaky. I am getting some quotes for a GTN650 and GMA340. The first quote I got included a GI-106B CDI. My question is can I use the existing CDI that is connected to my KX-155? It may also be connected to our GX50 GPS, but I'm not sure. If I can save ~2K, it would be great.

+++1 on getting a PS Engineering 450A or 8000 series over Garmin 340. The PSE products are the same to slightly more expensive and much higher quality with greater features.

The Garmin CDI is usually needed as it has annunciators integrated within the CDI to indicate what device is driving the CDI's input Nav signal.

Don't quote me on this, but a normal CDI should be enough if you only have one source running it. The annunciation on the GPS display is enough, as long as the GPS is mounted within the "primary scan" range (FAA has the guidelines about how many inches this is from the center of the panel).
