So, after just over a year I've returned a bit. I've been at a new job flying the A320 series aircraft and am a year or so away from being "Captain" again.

I'm still sorta miffed at PoA management over the 'outing' thing but whatever, water under the bridge. An apology would have been nice but we don't always get what we want.

During my away time I've been pretty busy and consumed with life, work, and other interests. Many of you can imagine how crazy it's been for me politically being a person in a right leaning industry who tends to lean left.

On another note, I have started playing Pickleball and am competing in the Pickleball US Open this month in Naples, Florida. I'm playing singles and mixed doubles at the 3.5 level hope to medal.

To anyone I've offended here over the years; pfft...It's the internet.

Anyway, thought I'd say a word and catch folks up that cared. If you've never heard of me that's cool, look forward to meeting you. (Don't believe a word anyone tells you about me).

Seriously, this forum community is an awesome resource. The founders and management of this forum do get credit for that IMO. I can't imagine where else I could get instant answers to obscure questions complete with documentation and links. Plus, as pilots, we share an awesome passion. I do like reading about all your adventures in the sky.

Think I'll shut up now.

Welcome back Captain. Word of warning though; you better not mention your political leanings or you might get banned. Except that you are a liberal and that is probably ok here.

But I sure wish you'd let go of the "apology" thing. If the MC starts making apologies they may never finish.

I remember seeing your username on an older thread and you had been gone for awhile. Glad to have you back!
 
Welcome back, although I *am* curious about the 'outing thing'...
 
I don't remember all the details, but Captain was attempting to remain anonymous. Someone was able to track him down and post his real name, which is somewhat unique, making his anonymity disappear. It was wrong and he was right to be ****ed.

Now, let it go. It won't help anyone rehashing it.
 
I would only add 'someone' was PoA management...but seriously, very old news. NOT rehashing it. As I said in post #1, water under the bridge.
 
Did u get a chance to catch up on the latest stuff on POA? lot has happened. Bw I don't know who u are, but I see u r a pro pilot and that's good enough for me. I am pre-solo, nice to meet u

Pickleball - Tennis for those who don't run as well as they used to. BIG deal in Florida (Heaven's Waiting Room) and lots of fun.

Invented and developed in Seattle, WA. and spread all the way to the other side of the continental US (Florida). Go figure. It is a ton of fun!
 
Man pickle ball... I work at a sporting goods store and the old people are into it big time. I feel like jehovahs witnesses have came to my door every time one of them come ask me where the pickleball stuff is.
 
Wow. According to wikipedia it was invented in 1965 but this is the first I heard of it.

Played in it college PE back in the 1970s; silly-ass game. We had a PE instructor who was big on badminton (the real thing, not the back-yard goof). He offered to spot anyone in class 13 points, I believe (I think 15 was the winning score back then), and the serve. No one could beat him, of course. I had no idea it was played at a competetive level in places such as India. But, also a goofy game. . .

Badminton is the worlds biggest raquet sport, played world over in big fashion for big money everywhere else in the world.
The USA misses out on a lot of sports and racing from the rest of the world that are quite fun to watch. A bumme really.
 
I'd never heard of pickleball either until now. I was pretty good in my younger days at tennis. But today, and after a couple of surgeries, I just don't have the knees for it anymore.

Rugby and Cricket are the big ones for me.

At least the U.S. is starting to get a little bit of traction now with Rugby 7's, but it's nowhere on the cricket front.

Here's to hoping Satya Nadella retire from Microsoft with $10b in his name, and uses half of that to build cricket stadiums in the U.S... (He's a huge cricket fan).

I watch a ton of cricket these days! Love it. T20 would be a great fit for the USA audiences with attention spans that are shorter than colon kapernicks voting record.

I ever tell you guys the story about the pilot I know first hand was violated for taking the reverse high speed turn off? Happened in IAD.

I dunno - American football pretty much is the apex of "contact" sports for my money. God help me, I do/do like cricket, though. Rugby, like soccer, is more fun to play than watch, IMHO. But badminton. . .
