Plug is about to be pulled on the Spin Zone, and now fully 10 threads on page 1 of recent posts are joke threads obliquely referring to it.

Coincidence?

If the goal of excising the Spin Zone was to focus the forum on serious aviation topics, pretty much a dud so far, I'd say.

That was not the goal as I understand it. The goal is to improve the atmosphere of POA. Give the current cloud time to pass and posters like Larry, Jim, and Henning time to accept the change.

I think this is just the current cole slaw.
Some things are catchy.

Still need an autozone and a Red zone which is for the immediate loading and loading of passengers only. There is no parking in the white zone

:nono: Only 9. Danger Zone has a fine aviation pedigree.:)

Okay, back to 10.

Make that 8, the Skin Zone has many photos of airplanes.

Sheesh!! Alright, what Phoenix said. 9

Speaking of unintended consequences, now that the word has been added to the profanity filter, how on earth are we going to ever discuss that crazy circular descending maneuver that get pilots killed when they get too slow and overcorrect on base to final???

When pilots fly into the danger zone? Moose turn zone? En Francais- Frappe zone? How long till 'zone' is in the filter?:D

The pilot, flying with his wife was killed when he performed a **** in flight. The **** was so intense, they both died.

This could be fun. Someone more creative could probably do better.

Look, I've performed a ****. I did it with an instructor but it can be done solo. ****ning is nothing to be afraid of or ashamed of. ****ning is part of life.

1) I was on a Flight Design CT forum that prohibited discussion of othe marques or non-aviation products.

So, if I wanted to bring up something that worked on a Cirrus, the name got edited out to ******. Got really silly if one wanted to discuss a certain cloud type. I even got a warning from a mod that my mentioning Scrubbing Bubbles as a good product for an oily belly was off limits as a recommendation of a non-aviation product.

One warning was all it took and I left that forum.

2) I have used the "Ignore Thread" function more in the last day than in all my prior time here. Can anyone not see that all the "xxx Zone" threads, while maybe initially prompting a small smile, are now just clutter?

But this, too, shall pass...

I almost wonder if it would be better to shut the forum completely down for a few days, kind of like closing the bank to prevent a run.

Then re-open and see if things would settle down.

Nah, just let people get ti out of their systems. I think its kind of fun. Although the cal-zone thread last night made me hungry.

No kidding. I haven't seen a flurry of activity like this in a long time, and it is fun.

I tried that once. I got a horrible rash.

While I haven't used the "ignore thread" function (yet) this week, I use it frequently as a normal way a managing what I'm not interested in partaking in here. It works well. Sure, some of the threads are clutter...but only for as long as it takes you to make a couple of clicks...then they're gone, gone, gone and...

I dont know if I'm happy
I don't know if I'm sad
they're gone gone gone
I dont know if i'll cry
I dont know if I'll die laughin'

I took a **** in a Citabria once, in order to have an instructor show me how to do **** recovery. The **** was scary, but everything came out all right.

It will be fine if the MC will just leave it alone and stop trying to justify their decision. Just like adding the word to the profanity filter, may have been done in jest, but even that comes across wrong, like they are thumbing their noses. I don't really care if it stays or goes, but the longer this goes on and the more the MC tries to rationalize, the worse it seems to get. I think the MC should not post for about a week and then it would probably die down. You are the MC, you decided, great! We are just the users and we will get over it. You have already won the battle and the war, now shut up about it and let people get it out of there systems without you riding in to defend it and opening the wound up again. Sheesh.

You can't fix stupid.

It didn't come across wrong to those of us who didn't relinquish our sense of humor along with our childhood.

Wait...

I just realized that I haven't relinquished my childhood either! :goofy:

Whatever, Just making the observation, it can devolve into a cesspool for all I care.

Do we need to add to our smiley collection?
