Ugly Planes

That picture looks like it was taken at the Airventure seaplane base.

I saw that plane fly when it arrived at Sun n' Fun many years ago just after being completed. The builder brought tie-downs and an anchor.
Isn't that spanish moss on the trees? Does that stuff grow so far north?

As for the plane, the photograph looks like someone built it to fly. I'd still want to see it in the air (and not from the tornado hitting the trailer park).

I'm pretty sure that airplane was pictured in EAA's Sport Aviation magazine in 1987/88. The big political issue that year was the proposed requirement for a Mode C transponder within 30nm of a class B airport (TCA at the time, I think) and the owner chuckled as he said "If they want to watch me fly my boat around all day at 30 knots, they're welcome to." Or something like that. :rofl:

Your're right! It might be parked by the "lagoon" at the west end of SnF near the entrance from the RV campground.
