Local couple based at KGIF, he's 84 and usually in his hanger everyday tinkering around with his Seabee, he took off with his wife on board this morning and was really struggling to gain height, just about cleared the trees at the end of R5 gained a bit of height then disappeared from view as he went down, strange thing is there is a lake right at the end of the runway, lots of float planes put down there. Why he didn't put down on it I don't know ?

Thankfully both are stable in hospital with non life threatening injuries so will be able to report exactly what went wrong.
