Wow I had two count em two great POA weekends in a row.

Last Sunday I went hiking with our resident rotorhead Bob Bruneau and some of his trail club friends through some stunning Chester County Woodland and Country Side, followed by a yummy burger. We did about 7.5 miles of great hiking. Saw lots of Iron Wood trees, Jack in the pulpet and an old still well at least the building that held the still. Bob thanks for your hospitality and a great day of hiking.

Today and yesterday were awesome here in SE PA days that were made for flying. around 12:30 the cell rings and it was Gary Shelby who said " Adam its too damn nice a day to be on the ground" Sweeter words I never did hear. Gary picked me up at wings in his 140. We wanted to go some where we never had been before so we lauched for EvY. Summit Airport in middletown Delaware just south of the D&C canal. Thanks Gary I fogot how much fun it was to fly VFR I, so used to filing in the system. We cruised up to about 2000 and headed SW out over King of Prussia and Valley forge Park. I saw what I thought to be traffic below us but was only the remote control Airplanes they fly off a small grass strip at the Park. Then out Rt 202 to the Rt 30 bypass to check out Gary's new office then 185 deg past chester County N40 and New Garden Airport and into EVY. We landed stretched our legs and were greeted by Security Guard Andy in the terminal who asked me if I had any bombs. Told him no not to day. They have a great little display of WWII pacific theatre memorabelia on display at the small terminal. U.S. propaganda leaflets an a lot of Flying Tigers stuff including an orginal flight jacket.
After a short leg stretch we launched for home and Gary was kind enough to let me get about .6 in the 140. Yes Gary it is a NIMBLE little plane. lots of fun to fly and just a great little bird. Thanks Gary for the mental health break.

Ain't it great to have POA friends!

RE: first great POA weekend -- Why walk when you can fly?;)

RE: second great POA weekend -- Yeah, low slow and VFR is a nice way to go. So why am I gunning for the IR?

I flew to Ithaca this morning -- beautiful day, just fantastic for sightseeing. Folks at KITH were nice, as were all the ATC facilities who graciously provided flight following. Too bad flying days like this are numbered in the mid-Atlantic, as we move into the humid, hazy days of summer. Turbulence, anyone?

Was a wonderful day! Could not beat the weather and those "mental health breaks" are an absolute necessity, in this day and age. Glad you could go along. We just did our part in converting precious fossile fuels to carbon dioxide and water, the earth's temperature will probably rise a hundreth of a degree. :D EVY was an interesting place, and I still can't place what that single engine plane was in the hanger (DeHaviland?). If the place had a resturant, it would be a great destination.

Solo flight. Would have been a good one for the fam, but we're still taking baby steps. Last weekend, breakfast at Chester County. Hoping to do a long one with everyone to New Haven next weekend, VFR weather/low turbulence permitting...

That's great Adam. You've hooked up with two wonderful gentlemen. Next time have Bob take you up in the R22 or R44 if he has it. Gary's 140 is really nice. I've been in it a few times and it flies great.
