Tustin airship hangar is back in use

Interesting.

I officed a block from the main gate of MCAS-H Tustin for several years, became entirely accustomed to the constant chop of Sea Stallions as background noise.

It is good to hear that the blimp hangars are being used to productive purpose.

Can't see why those aren't just as susceptible to winds and storms as their famous precursors. Can't see them being that much more useful either.

Goodyear has used Tustin for years. I've been to Tustin with an airship as well. Igor and his company (World Wide Aeros, IIRC) aren't the most reputable people in the LTA business either. Having seen peices of this thing, I doubt it will fly

They are pretty solid buildings and have probably withstood many storms in thier day. :wink2:

I was stationed there for a couple of years.
For those of us in the HQ Squadron, it was known as Fort Tustin. The red headed step child of El Toro, They got all the glory. LOL

The hangars are on the Registry for National historic sites or something like that. There are plaques on the front of each one.
It could and would at times get clouds INSIDE the hangars they were so big.

Pretty cool buildings.
