I know we've got a few folks who either work with trains or are train buffs, so...

Is there any easy way of finding out what freight trains come through my area and when? I've found a few pages but nothing clear cut.

And I think I found the train that everyone complains about on the way to work in the morning, but I don't understand this greek stuff. Am I correct though in that most trains try to maintain a pretty consistent schedule?

They sure seem to take great delight in interrupting morning commutes. No trains most of the day, but a Union Pacific 1 to 1.5-mile long train always seems to start from a dead stop at our major crossing about 7:25 AM each day. Takes 10+ minutes to clear. By then, the backup at the light takes another 10 minutes to clear. We've learned to leave early, especially when headed to the airport. :-)

Would prefer they do their from-a-full-stop runs outside of the 6am-9am and 4pm-7pm time frame.
