Isn't that why you confirm "flaps up left - flaps up right" before you push the throttle forward?
You can eat up a fair amount of runway doing that. How much runway does it save over a stop'n'go?

With the carrier doing 20 kts into a 15 kt headwind......you wouldn't really need a hook.
I have often dreamed about landing my 170 on the deck of the LHD, but there is no way NAVAIR would give the thumbs up for that one.

Not in every plane. In the SR20, you confirm Flaps 50.

Flaps 50...as in you take off with Flaps at 50 degrees....or is that 50% of the normal flap travel?

Yes, 50% of flap travel. It is probably about 18 degrees or so.
