Some of you might remember me recently discussing the possibility of buying an old 182 in another thread. Well, I bought the thing! The wife and I are super excited, and this is most definitely a dream fulfilled. Still have a couple details to tie up, but I should be able to go drill holes in the sky on Wednesday. It's going to be so awesome to go to the hangar 1.5 miles from the house to fly MY plane instead of 40 miles to rent someone else's. Wish us luck.

Dang you Zucker. I left those out for a reason, lol. The panel is the epitome of basic and cheap. You asked for it.

Behold!

It's a VFR plane, and I'll probably leave it that way for a while, if not forever. I'm sure I'll replace the Narco radio first with something a little nicer, but I'll use them for a while. I'd like to fill that spot under the transponder with one of the nice portable GPS units, maybe a Garmin 696 or 796. Not a fan of touch screens in airplanes, so I like the 696 better. I'm sure they will come out with something new before I get there. I don't think I could pop for a certified GPS. Anywho, there ya go.

Fine plane.

That Narco Mark12 radio is a good radio.

I had one and it never gave me a lick of trouble.

Congratulations! Now go burn some fuel and fly fly fly!!

Very clean panel...it's a shotgun but so what for VFR. Congrats on the acquisition.

Congrats!

Nice looking ride! The panel has plenty of room for future upgrades. Airgizmos makes a nice panel mount dock for the 696.

congrats man! you will have a blast. sharp looking plane, enjoy!!

Do you have the auto-gas STC?

At sub $2.00 and the 12 gallons per hour, you need to fly as much as you can and figure out how to fly the plane, and what you really care about upgrading, if anything.

Nice ride!

Agree completely that you need one if you can get poison free gas in your area. Not only to save money but, more importantly, because O470 engines love mogas...at least mine does.

When I bought mine, I asked the mechanic/broker what I should spend money on first. His answer was "Gasoline", and, then second, "More gas".

It took me a bit to figure out the starting sequence that it likes, but, since I got that figured out, it is nice to go fly a plane that starts up on the first attempt in 40 degree weather after not flying for 2 weeks.

And, I honestly don't mind the process of filling the tanks on the top of the wings with 5 gallon cans. Kind of allows me to perform other tasks while cans are draining.

I agree that is a VFR great Panel, I really like the Narco radio also. Keep it as long as it is working.

Just enough you could get your instrument rating in it if you want.

Thank you so much for all the kind replies everybody.

That's good to know. As this is my first plane, I don't have any experience with them. Most folks I've talked to don't have a high opinion of them.

Congrats!

Yes. I think a panel mounted 696 is about the coolest GPS unit out there. I'll be using a tablet for now, but as I mentioned, I don't like touch screen gadgets. I might be the only 30 year old to say that.

Awesome! Where were you renting before?

Agreed. It does not have the STC, but that's a top priority. In fact, I already got a 60 gallon tank that will ride in my truck bed for airplane go juice. Got it for free too! Fortunately, we are blessed with an abundance of maize free gas.
