Too much stuff.

.... Which makes it easier to justify buying an airplane instead. :D

we do about half of our trips in flying club planes but for the holidays its not worth paying the extra for taking a plane for 2 weeks plus having the uncertainty of winter weather in the midwest.

as long as i can rent a 430W 172 (65/hr) and 182RG (120/hr) there is no way i can afford to own something with an engine

Ahh, but you've got it all wrong. "Afford" is different than "Justify." You can't financially justify owning (nobody can!) but you can afford it - And the justification is in your first paragraph. ;)

I'm kidding, of course - You have a sweet setup - As do I. Doesn't keep me from wanting to own, or trying to. Sigh.

If you feel you have too much stuff then you could always regift it to someone that doesn't. Tis the season!

its so ridiculously cheap in my club and the availability is so good that i can't even justify it. believe me, ive tried

What's your address? I've got a 700 lb boat anchor of a Jaguar V12 I've been trying to get out of my basement. No, it doesn't work. :D

LOL Thanks Ted although I think that would be pretty useless to me too! I bet if you post it on a Jaguar forum somebody might ask for it though. I'm pretty picky. It has to at least be aviation related. I tend to be a book collector.

If you have a hard time just "giving away" your junk, you could always just trade it for better junk from someone else!

There you go! That's a good idea! Maybe we should have a sub-forum just to trade away all the stuff that's too good to throw out, but no longer has any use?

Ohhhh.. I bet that would go great with the NP229 transfer case that I dropped at the junkyard when we moved from Ames. Felt bad dumping the darn thing - case was still good and it was just the viscous coupler that needed replacing internally. I'm sure someone 'out there' could have used it, I just couldn't find them in time. :(

And I wonder why I have so much 'stuff'... ha

Ok, I'll go for that, but I don't want anything in return!

I have plenty of stuff. Most just resting comfortably undisturbed for years. I'm often amazed by what I find when I go looking. It's like a treasure hunt. WOW, I was wondering where that went. Only been in this house three years but the main floor is starting to bulge.
Now I know I am keeping too much stuff. I have to spend days cleaning to prepare for company. Most of that time is spent moving.... MY STUFF.
