Sirius XM Launches Abba Channel - 12/11 - Sirius AM is bringing back Abba Radio, a commercial-free channel dedicated to international supergroup. On Sirius-3 and XM-31 from 12/12 to 12/20. Music from the Swedish popsters, plus tracks from the recent Abba-themed flick "Mamma Mia".....

(Runs screaming with ears in pain....)

This is GREAT. Now I've got something to listen to on the 4 hour flight back from Houston on Thursday. I listened to the Frank Sinatra channel on the way out.

Here's a tip for XM. Call them and tell them you want to cancel. They will offer you 3 months free to try to 'change your mind'. Rachel had to basically yell at them to cancel my XM subscription.

Or fly on a Delta airplane that they use for trans-Atlantic. Since May, they've had the Abba channel....

I think a lotta XM subs are gonna bail because the "merger" killed off a lot of the popular XM channels - which of course, they said wouldn't happen. All mergers are required to be accompanied by lies.

It's really a lesson in what happens when a monopoly is created. Quality goes down (because the don't "have to" keep improving) and price goes up. The government seemed only concerned about price.

I listened to the Elvis channel the whole way back from Memphis Thanksgiving...

Well, I liked listening to the '40s station when I visited my parents. But other than that, why pay to listen to the radio - cable tv is bad enough.
(Detroit still has a classic music station - WRCJ - you can listen on line also)

I gotta say that on a long cross country having Sirius radio is very nice, although a well programmed iPod or mp3 player would be equally ok.
I like the 40s channel from time to time too.

I do appreciate having XM in the airplane as well as in the car. Hearing a Dodger game called by the great Vin Scully helps the time pass on a long X-C in an 85-knot airplane!

I'll admit that even though I was extremely reluctant to go see Mama Mia in Vegas a couple years ago, I actually enjoyed it. An ABBA channel, well that's a different story.

Overall I've been pleased with the changes since the XM/Sirius merger. More channels with music I like anyway.

Soooo...why is the ABBA channel so bad? I'm not a fan but, hey, they have a Zeppelin channel. Good band, the first 100,000 times I heard every song they have ever written. The last million times I've heard each Zeppelin song...not so much.:frown2:

So what's next? The Lynard Skynard station? Now there's a band that's almost as over played as Zeppelin. :yikes:

I would never pay for radio and only have XM because it's a very small add on when one has XM weather on a x96. A few bucks a month I think.

Chris, why cancel? I have a friend that's been doing the "Well, OK, I guess if you'll give me 3 months I'll stay" thing for about 2 1/2 years now - All it takes is a phone call every 3 months and he's got XM for free!

whats wrong with ABBA!??!

This calls for a blast from your FlashChat past:

I hadn't used it in well over 6 months and when I tried to use it on a drive to MN earlier this fall, my radio wouldn't load. Probably could have just 'reset' it online, but eh. That was the first time I had even turned it on since I quit bouncing around in TerraGators and RoGators this time last year. :yikes:

... and I would forget to call an 'cancel' after 3 months and be getting billed for it again. ;)

You cannot cancel XM. You may tell them to. They may tell you you're canceled, but you have 3 months free. Then you have to watch if they're billing you again.
