Time lapse photography?

Anyone skilled at time lapse photography? As the warmer weather approaches here in AZ, I'd like to make some movies of the thunderheads building and boiling as the thunderstorms build.

I was going to set up GoPro on a tripod pointing out a window. What timing do I use. How many seconds or minutes between each exposure? Any and all tips appreciated.

Assuming the finished product is 30 frames per second, an image once a minute for an hour would give you a 2 second video. Assuming it takes the storm an hour to develop, an image once a second your give you 2 minutes of video

Depending on what video software you use, you should always be able to slow it down 1/2 or 1/4 by throwing out 1/2 or 3/4 of the frames. I usually try to capture twice as often as I think I should, then I can easily edit to twice as fast or twice as slow as I origionally guessed.
