Things I have left to do

Tom, that's a work of beauty like no other. I envy your skill and admire the pride that went into this project.

TD,

Even though we haven't yet been able to make it out that way, we've (at least I'VE) been keeping up with the project. Sent a link to your site to lots of m/c folks who are also pilots. They are in awe of ya. (and rightly so!! hehehehe)

So. When is the big day? Or are you going to to do the first flight in obscurity?
I'd bribe ya with cherries, but with a 26F morning two days after full bloom, there isn't anything to bribe you with. :-( I think they got a whole 400 lbs this year. ~sigh~

However, I'm willing to call in dead at work, risk my job and ride my 250cc over to have the privilege of watching the first flight.

In reality I do it as a hobby, But I'm getting a bit tired of the project and want to go fly it. we are close bvut not quite ready to try it.

In fact I have so much money tied up the F-24 I am apprehensive about flying it.

This has been way too big of a project for me working alone, it has taken way too long, so I'm ready to bail.

I didn't think there would be many cherries this year we see them over here at $6 a pound, and they don't look great as yours.

I will probably get my proficiency back, prove the aircraft depandability, work off the discrepancies and fly it over to see you guys. but anyway it looks like I'll be keeping it a while as there are no bodies standing by with check book in hand to buy it.

Looks fantastic!
Can you/will you insure it for realistic replacement value?
Best of luck.

What would you have the insurance cmpany do, bank roll the rebuild again? What would you replace it with?

Yes, that's what I mean essentially. Bank roll a build from the frame up, at your cost, as you did. Nevermind if there are no more FA frames out there.

Looks tantalizingly close to flight, and just gorgeous. I've always liked this model Fairchild- a great classic.

I think a very subtle pinstripe or two would look nice (I suggest researching photos of other planes of the same type for some "old style" designs), but go ahead and fly it first. :D

Don't give up for anything. Flying a giant project like this will be a seminal moment in your life. It will be worth it!

I'll say it again - it didn't look that good the day it rolled out of the factory. I'm really looking forward to seeing it finished (in person).

And kudos to you for bringing such a beautiful piece of history back to life. It looks gorgeous in your photos.

This is one of the few times I have been speechless. Thanks for the pix!

This is one of my favorite back ground screens, that polished crankcase has sparkle.

Wow. It's gorgeous. I remember back when you posted pics of
your trip home in it when you first got it. Unbelievable what you've done.
