I was at the flight of the replica in 2003 during the big celebration and I think about that week often. My wife and I will be meeting family in the Outer Banks in June for a small get-together and I hope to share the Wright Brothers Memorial with them on our trip. Probably no flying though :frown3:

There's usually an old biplane giving short flights that could be a fun quick fix if you're planeless...
 
I was there too. I have video of people standing calf deep in pools of rain water waiting to see if she'd fly. Otherwise, I have a lot of good memories from that week.
 
I went as well. It rained a bunch that morning. You could tell how depressed everyone was that the airplane didnt "fly"....it stalled. If the trees weren't in the way like they are now, it might have had a better chance. However the next day was pretty windy, I went hanggliding off Kill Devil Hills.
 
I was wondering how they were going to fly that Wright Flyer replica on Dec. 3rd 2003 at 10:30. Orville and Wilbur waited for days to have 27Kt. of wind off of the ocean to make their flight. I don't think that day did the Wright bros. any favors. Just my $.02. Bob
 
I saw that movie in the day.

That bastard Alexander Graham Bell stole the Wright's control system for Curtis. :rolleyes:
