Britain used to send the Vulcan here to Canada for airshows when I was a kid. The last time it was here was in the early '80s, I think. It consumed an enormous amount of fuel. On the ramp, 2000 people stood in the shade under its wings. No smoking, please. The bomb bay could hold a mobile home. Awesome machine.

Back when SAC used to hold bombing competitions and our NATO (at least UK) allies participated I recall a Vulcan flying over our house in eastern Washington. Quite a bird.
 
I always thought that was the most badass looking plane ever. Awesome to see it fly.
 
I lived 1 mile west of the Glenview (IL) NAS in 1978, when a Vulcan bomber crashed immediately north of the base in a landfill. That crew saved a lot of lives by doing so.
