I was surprised as I was googling my old town of Sherman, N.Y. to see if they would show a road up to the old Bement place and the Bement Road. Low and behold there was a picture of the old barn. Now this barn is really something. Made around 1900 and still standing straight and true. Made with wooden dowels to hold it together. My grandfather William Bement had it built. It held all of their cows and horses all winter long. The hay went up in the hay mow along with the grain. It had individual watering devices in each stanchion.and box stall. It had two large silos on one end ( there are gone now). You could drive a team and wagon into the second story to unload the hay. It was on a side hill so the upper side made it easy to drive in. If someone can help me make it easier to look at it I would appreciate it. Look here: Barn In Chautauqua ID # 12200780

I was able to see the one that you referred to and englarged it, but couln't attached the large version.

Use the link I posted and search Bement Road Sherman, New York and then click on aerial view. zoom right in to see the barn. You can turn it around and look at the other side. You can see where they could drive a team and wagon in one double door and out the other on the same side. That is neat.

How small is this world? We drive right by that place when we drive home to Hamden NY. I was raised on a farm with a barn just like that.

Yes it is very visible from the highway # 86 as you drive by Sherman, N.Y.

OK Bob, I finally found it... I was curious to see more than just that little thumbnail, especially when you mentioned highway 86 (NY Hwy 17, Interstate 86). I've driven that route many times.

Here's a somewhat larger picture (click for the full-size version):

And here's the Google Maps link.
