The most dangerous Airport in the world

You guys are more adventurous than I am. ;) I won't land at any airport where a go-around is impossible.

But then I'm still a pretty low-time pilot.

But then I'll be surprised if more hours will change my mind on that.

He'd probably borrow Ben Haas's CH-801.

He would be a very smart man...:yes:..

Just visit large testicles.com.... Buy the biggest ones he can find,,, install in sack and say a few hail mary's............:D

Mainstream lay media thinks that an airport with a single runway, no precision approach into the prevailing wind, sloping terrain below, and office buildings off to the left, is a recipe for disaster.

 :yikes:

Actually, just a five-story parking garage.

Yeah there's a car rental place right by that building. I had to let my wife handle the rental so I could gawk at the landing traffic. :dunno:

Note the LOOOONG displaced threshold on the runway though. I don't see that as dangerous.

I think Telluride in Colorado is much more dangerous (KTEX).

Why? It's a fairly long runway at 7100' and pattern altitude is 10,500. It sits on top of a mesa, which makes it look dramatic, and it has a downhill slope to the middle from both ends (better than the opposite!), but hasn't shown to be particularly dangerous.

I wouldn't call Telluride dangerous, but it is more challenging than SAN.

Depends on what you're flying, I suppose. If I can't get my 182 down and stopped in 7100' I've got very serious personal problems win airspeed control. ;)

I think it has more to do with the stuff between the headphones. Too many people have hot-dogged it in there and built the case for the EMAS. I landed there today in the Baron with s tailwind gusting to 18. I still used only half the runway.

Good show. There's a couple of episodes online.

And here's one... not really a runway....
