The Great Monkey Race: Progress Thread

For those of you keeping score at home: today's itinerary was PDK-SSI-PDK-ATL-ABY-PDK. So no closer to Charlotte, but he sure is having fun........clean fun, for a change. :)

But it is time for him to move on. Randy, I'm still not sure about the breakfast yet, so what's your week looking like?

I'm pretty open, let me know what works best for you.

image.jpeg One last adventure before he moves on. Monkey got a little jet time today.

The monkey is on the move! Handed off to @EppyGA
I know his plans include an EAA breakfast and Sun-n-Fun.

I'm pretty sure the monkey never paid more than his pro rata share. Now, common purpose?........

The monkey arrived at EAA 690 this morning for breakfast. He immediately wanted to try out the rotorcraft demonstrator, so we let him give it a try.IMG_0342_1024x768.JPG IMG_0343_768x768.JPG IMG_0344_768x768.JPG IMG_0346_768x768.JPG

Lol freakin excellent!!!

After the rotorcraft demonstrator, he wanted to meet some of our members.

First was one of my BOD members, Brian Michael
IMG_0349_768x768.JPG
Next he met Colonel Fred Huppertz, retired from the Air Force. Fred flew Foward Air Control in Nam and B-52s before ending his career as a base commander. Fred is a CFII.

We then introduced him to Paul Kelly. Paul is the retired Chief Pilot for Eastern Airlines. Paul's daughter Mary Jane is a PPL and Chair of the Airport Authority.

Next on the list was Clyde Schnars, our guest of honor today as he received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot award from the FAA.

And last, but not least, was Winston Winthrop flight instructor for Delta Airlines in their simulator facility here in Atlanta.

Once breakfast was complete we took a journey down to our Bishop Education Center to see what was going on.

First he stopped to check out the work our youth are doing on the Ultra-Lite Pietenpol project. He took a look at the wing they're working on and gave it his seal of approval.
IMG_0359_768x768.JPG
He took a liking to Carolyn and we had to drag him away.

We then went and had him help a bit with the RV-12 the chapter is building. He says they're doing a pretty good job as they were finishing up the skinning of the horizontal stabilizer.

And little did we know it but his cousins Hear No, See No and Speak No, the Evil triplets showed up and he was kind enough to pose for a family portrait.

Now he's worn out and resting for his upcoming trip to Sun n Fun on Wednesday.

Had to go look that one up. 50 years of safe flight. Neat.

I chuckled when I read how you apply for it though... Copies of all documents and certificates... Hmmm...

I guess nowadays with the mandate that old plastic certificates be destroyed or mangled if the examiner gets their hands on them, they'll have to pull this stuff from a computer in the near future...

In the next ten years, someone applying will have their logbook for their solo date, and a few electronic scribbles in a database, and one certificate to "photocopy". Ha.

Monkey fell in love with Sam and wanted to stay but when we showed him the rental car he changed his mind.

Tomorrow we head over to Lakeland to have some fun at Sun n Fun.

a true adventure you guys are taking the monkey on, this is so awesome. and you're not even at SnF yet!

not to mention, Sam's a little hottie!

I have a friend at SnF who is on the lookout for you and the monkey. she is a photographer and will be looking for you!

Great Pics! Any plan yet? Is the monkey coming home with you or will there be a Sun-n-Fun handoff?

no plans right now, other than looking forward to more of these insane monkey pics from EppyGA (and Mrs. EppyGA?) at SnF!

This is the most epic thread on POA.
I am glad to see he seems to have kicked his coke habit.

His transition to 'good clean fun' has been epic fo sho!

If you get him back to me before Tuesday, I'm will be heading to the Bahamas. International Monkey of Mystery! Does he even have a passport?

Looks like Monkey has a cousin that is into aerobatics

We arrived at Sun n Fun this morning and almost immediately got Sean D Tucker to pose with monkey!

Had a busy morning and stopped for lunch. Monkey was not happy that I only left a part of the bun. Then my friend Chris Canon, with Textron, tried to drink the monkey.

Monkey has enjoyed the Mustang. He likes it best with the top down.

In hindsight I think it is a good thing that the monkey was removed from the envelope. I know that was a concern early on but I suspect this would be a lot less entertaining with just an envelope.

Next up was dinner, monkey likes him some Crawfish Etouffe.

I think you are correct. I just hope all elements, in particular the trip log survive for prosperity. But in the end, the monkey is most vulnerable however he is obviously under first class stewardship.
