Hey guys,

I know I am getting ahead of myself a bit, but I really want to do all three of these things (Tailwheel endorsement, Aerobatics - these two can be done at Chandler Air Service, and then Instrument Rating).

In what order would you do these things?

Well I'm doing Instrument, then tailwheel and aerobatics. After all this not looking outside I need to have some fun!

Maybe I should have had some fun and done tailwheel and aero first. I doubt it matters much.

Depends on your goals.

But if it were me, I'd do all my initial training in a tailwheel, some basic spins before your first solo, get your PPL, some more advanced aerobatics, build up some long cross country hours in the ATC system while fine tuning my VFR skills, al la flight following with a paper chart using land marks, then start my instrument training.

IIRC you're are thinking of going to airlines? I'd get your instrument rating right after if that's the case.

Ehh not sure I'm gonna be making a career of this...that's not the goal at this point...

Although that route would be nice I'm done with most of my PPL so tail wheel etc will be started after I get it

In that case, tailwheel first. Still just getting the endorsement doesn't really make for a tailwheel pilot, still a good experience none the less

I got my PPL October of 2014. I'm 55, and fly for fun and adventure/travel. So my training goals are more in line with those goals. I've been racking up cross country hours and paying off my Archer since then, honing my VFR skills, getting comfortable in the ATC system, and even doing some practice approaches. Last payment on the plane was just made, so I'll be starting my instrument training in May. I eventually want to step up to a faster, more comfortable plane, so after IR, I'll do high performance and complex, and start building hours in rentals so that I'm ready when the time comes. Along the way, I plan on taking some basic aerobatic training, mostly so that I get some experience with unusual attitude recovery. Not really interested in tail wheel that much. Wouldn't mind seaplane, though.

Go do the tailwheel/aerobatics. It will give you a whole new set of skills in aircraft control. It will help a lot even for the instrument rating because it makes flying the airplane effortless. Don

This is sort of my thinking...

Tailwheel and aerobatics first. It will make you a much better pilot. Instrument training can wait.
Go stay with Greg Koontz at his place and get high quality training you won't soon forget.

Looks like fun - bit far away in Alabama...would have to fly add airfare on top of the course...Chandler aerobatics has some good courses for good prices as well
