I am going to Chile in September and my choices are United/Continental (into BA and then a flight to Santiago) or TACA. Not sure where TACA would drop me but no doubt it would be a hop from somewhere.

I'm hoping TACA is long haul and no stopovers (IE one connection not two).

Any thoughts on TACA? Safety record? Pilots? Metal?

Thanks.

TACA = They Ain't Coming Amigo

I flew them from Houston to Roatan a few years back. They had free booze in coach. good thing too as the ceiling fell in during turbulence. TACA has a bad rep for on time, not losing bags, safety and general non-customer satisfaction. Go United/Connie instead.

Why do you hate America? :D

I think their safety record is unremarkable.

Edit:

Meaning, they are safe to fly with.

TACA -
Take A Chance Airlines ! Totally hot looking flight attendants though, they are not encumbered by EOE rules like we have here.

+1 Take A Chance Airlines

They boarded passengers at the gate as they arrived. I got there 1.5 hours early and was told the flight was full even though I had a confirmed ticket. Once the plane was full, they pushed back (early) and said "Too bad!"

Sounds like you don't have a good choice. For personal reasons, not safety, I am extremely anti United and regard them as last choice. The alternative would be pretty bad before I would fly United. There has only been one other airline that achieved a lower rating with me that United. If Pan Am was the only way to get there, I didn't go.

I think you can fly AA through DFW to Santiago. That would probably be my first choice.

I agree with the others on TACA
