If anyone is curious how to pre-heat using a battery "off the grid", we rigged up a simple walmart solution using
- deep cycle battery
- inverter
- and a small space heater on low/750W setting

I monitored the power draw is only 650W using the inverter and 12V battery, but, it would only last for about 45minutes before the voltage dropped and the inverter started beeping. To get 2 hours of juice you would need 2x batteries in parallel or bigger/beefier one.

Can anyone comment on a 12V space heater that truckers use? Maybe it would run much longer since no inverter and transformers in the equation. 12V to 12V system
