Everything Offends Me
I am hoping that the Management Council will allow this post to remain, as it is not a criticism or discussion of a decision they’ve made so much as an explanation of what happened. Please don’t turn the thread into a bash of the management council, as that is expressly prohibited by the rules of conduct.
I’m sorry to offend anyone by my usage of the word “prick.” I should point out that when I used the word, I did not mean it as a substitute for male genitalia, but rather as it is commonly used here in New Mexico, as an irritant. For reference, see definition 4 from the Urban Dictionary: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=prick. Now, I’m not saying I’d never heard the usage of the word prick in the sense it was taken, I’m not naive, but it certainly was not my intention to throw out a word that might offend some people of the softer defenses here at Pilots of America. This was the basis of my original surprise that I would be singled out as the one person who was punished. I can, however, see why it was offensive, and can even see why Diana feels the way she does about the entire situation. This is coming from a person who never even uses the other P-word around mixed company, even after they’ve used it first, because I was taught better than to use such language in a mixed or public group.
I was given information from a few members of the management council that this was a decision that was driven by one person, and have been later told by other members of the management council that it was a decision that was made as a group, and that that person did not champion at all in the decision. I don’t know which one is accurate, and unfortunately, due to the veil around the operations of the management council, the real answer will never be known, which is unfortunate. I asked them to make the decision without the influence of that one person and was essentially denied (pocket veto, as it were, they waited until the suspension was over without giving an answer). I have very credible reasons to believe that the person I assumed was responsible for the decision was responsible for it, again, no one will know for sure.
So – I’ve decided not to leave Pilots of America, but we’ll say that my existence here will be very limited. It’s not so much “taking my ball and running,” as it is protecting myself from those here who want to hurt my reputation (and there are very few people here that would, but they happen to carry some mighty power). When those people are no longer in the position to hurt me, I will let my defenses down again.
Thank you,
Nick (Skyhog, conspiracy theorist, it would seem)
