Out of curiosity, what did you pay for the Throttle Body? Average price for Nissan Altima TB's here is about $65-85. Add $20 for lifetime warranty.

Correct......

It takes several full cycles /events for the computer to "train" / teach itself of the new values it is seeing from the sensors...

Each one starting with the engine cold, and in some cases at least a certain time interval from the last time the engine was started.

That is my understanding too.....

Depends which drive cycle we are talking about. They differ for different diagnostic functions. Cat cycle starts only after post-cat lambda heating cycle is over, and so on.

Most of the times clearing all fault codes helps. It clears old adaptations too, and your car might have adapted to the old faulty throttle body.

Unless it's like a Volvo ETM module, which needs a software update to pair it with the car?

~$150 I think. I bought a bunch of other stuff I didn't need while there.

I love me some Autozone.
It is like home depot. You walk in, and the smell says "Welcom. You belong here"

Autozone carries the crappiest parts of any of the name brand chains...their target market is the 16 to 20 YO kid who wants to put a lot of lights and chrome on their ride. And maybe a few stickers of Calvin pizzing on something.

NAPA and O'Reilly have better quality stuff (on average...every supplier has their good days and bad). NAPA typically does the best job overall but you're going to pay for it.

Interesting perspective. I do not shop NAPA for anything but light bulbs...one bad clutch did in their business with me...

Well, being the former OReilly boy that I am, I know that we had to start carrying a second/cheaper line of parts when we moved into an AZ market or they moved into one of ours. This to compete with them on price...and quality (or lack thereof), then once the customer was in the door, we'd try to "sell them up" to the better line of parts that we had always carried.

Put another way, the typical OReilly and NAPA sees about 50% of their sales go out the back door being delivered to dealers and mechanics. The typical AZ is closer to 25% (unless they're the only game in town) because mechanics won't put that junk in their customers' cars and deal with all the warranty claims.

Carquest used to have a good line of parts too...not sure anymore since they've been bought out by Advance.

Ahh, maybe the secret is to not buy AZ's cheapest...their top-of-the-line parts are still less expensive than NAPA.

Ron Levy has a term for that, caviar emptiness, or somesuch. :)

P.S. Talk to your mechanic(s), see what their opinion is.

For the discriminating yet lazy mechanic, I've been buying everything off of rockauto.com. You can usually find cheap parts and OEM replacements, all for less than you would find at a brick and mortar. And their search is easier than major online retailers.

There's a difference between a better warranty and a better quality part though. Mechanics understand this and that's why (at least in my neck of the woods) you won't see an Auto Zone truck delivering to mechanics and dealers but you will see NAPA and O'Reilly making a lot of deliveries. Mechanics don't want to install it a second or third time for free.

DYIers, OTOH, are just ecstatic that they don't have to pay for the part again when they spend yet another Saturday under their car.

Yaeh well, you won't be saying that when I take you for a spin in my 06 Altima with chrome skull shifter with red glowing eyes and purple neon windshield washers my friend.

Oh sure you hate Auto zone when were separated by a forum but I bet you wont be saying that when we are screaming down the highway jamming out to Metallica while the interior lights flash to the beat buddy.

Note if we get hot, we have to unplug the lights and switch the portable fan to the A/C outlet. I haven't yet gotten the dual one. It is on back order.

Get in the zone b!tch! GRRRRRRRR AutoZone!!!!
