LAWRENCEVILLE -- Police were searching for clues Tuesday after a jet stolen from Florida turned up this weekend at a Gwinnett County airport although no one knows how it got there.
The 1995 twin engine Cessna Citation Seven, which has an estimated worth of $7 million, is based in St. Augustine, Fla. The aircraft was found either Saturday night or early Sunday morning at Briscoe Airfield in Lawrenceville.
"Apparently, it is stolen," Officer Darren Moloney, a police spokesman said.
The jet's owners, identified as the Pinnacle Air charter company, were said to be cooperating with investigators.
Gwinnett police are coordinating the investigation with various federal agencies.
Police had no clues who landed the plane at the airfield in the middle of the night. It was not immediately clear what, if anything, was contained in the plain.
Channel 2 Action News reporter Ryan Young contributed to this report.
