It looked a bit like a crop duster indicator thingie mounted vertically, but I'm going to go with AOA indicator.

Makes me want to get another tail wheel...would it make more sense on takeoff to follow the slope downward in ground effect, or just climb out? Considering the narrowness of that runway, I'd probably do like he did and climb...

I thought it was a gun sight. That isn't a 182 war hawk..???
