Static port blocked. BREAK THE VSI?

I'm flying a 172; And I'm not the sole owner. I imagine, unless in heavy IMC, I wouldn't break anything! I mean, it's a 172! So just fly the usual sight picture down final. . .

Yup. It's truly an emergency procedure.

Or pull the ALT Static inside the cabin. I always open and close it as part of my pre-flight and watch the altimeter move to verify it's working. The chance of both ports getting blocked on a flight are minuscule.

You don't need to break anything. 172s come with alt-static knobs. You just pull it.

152s don't have them. Then, you have to figure out how to break them. But who flies 152s in IMC?

Okay, I think I see the miscommunication here.
My premise is a blocked Static port with a broken VSI glass.

Yeah in that statement I was just referring to a block port with no action taken to open the static system. Breaking the VSI or using the cabin static port opening to cabin air should be very minor differences.
