Space Race ---Deborah Cadbury

A very good book on the early days of the space race. It looks at each side of the race. I found the insight into what was happening on the Soviet side very interesting. It deals with the time during WW2 when the two great rocketry people, van Braun and Korelev, were getting their starts. The book then goes through the 1950's and then gets into the what was happening in the 60's . The politics of space flight are dealt with as well as many of the engineering challenges.
