Southeast twin pilots

It's 87+ right now in the stream here in NC. I was there a few days ago and i'll be out there again this weekend. South of here its near 90s

The USCG did their part and they ran a 100% max effort search while there was a reasonable chance the two boys are still alive.

Unfortunately we have gone past reasonable chance... we are now in 'miracle' territory and the CG can't spend resources on possible miracles.

The private aviation effort has been outstanding and the fundraising for such is so impressive. I hope that in future searches of this type, that the organization of private resources is more quickly brought about. The private flying effort doubled or tripled the area being searched, and if this happened on day 2 instead of day 4-5 it might have made a difference.

That's enough of a difference for thermal imaging. A live human is around 10 degrees warmer.

At this time of year schools of feeding tuna are also human temp and human size.

Well my tuna comment may not have been entirely accurate. They are a warm fish though, even in January they maintain 75-80f body temps. In the summer they don't get warmer than 87-90f.

I understand. They have a counter-current mechanism to reduce heat loss. The moon fish is actually considered warm blooded, but that isn't a tuna.

Not to jump in here with needless discussion, but this is one of the few cases where it would actually make sense to have airships in the USCG. Good weather searches like this, an airship would give you massively higher endurance at a much cheaper cost.

Not needless. More relevant than the body temp of tuna.

Warm water fish I assume... Not warm blooded fish.

I've wondered whether airships could make a comeback. With all of the weather information available in flight, it is far easier to avoid the bad weather that were the bane of the airships.
