Southeast Fly-in, April 29/30, 2006 North Myrtle Beach, SC

Where are we going to be meeting for this shindig? Which restaurant for lunch, which hotel for staying overnight, where for dinner. I can't seem to find any of these details anywhere.

Help.

Working on all that... someone came up on the AOPA boards a while back and mentioned his hotel, but he hasn't been in touch. I'll post as much information as possible on Sunday, going out to the beach this weekend to talk with Bob at Ramp 66.

I checked with the Hilton and they are full for on April 29th. Agatha and I have a room at the Courtyard By Marriott on Broadway in Myrtle Beach, about 14 miles from the airport. I will be getting a rental car for the night.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Well y'all, I'll miss you by a week. I'll be in Greenville, SC next weekend visiting my Daughter, Son-in-law and granddaughter. Wish I was going a week later; I'd drop in and try an meet some of ya.

We're at the Avista for the night, I wanted the 3 year old to have some beach and ocean time! we too have a rental car. Should be nice!

BTT

Agatha, Tom Sisk and I will be arriving between 10 and 11 AM Saturday. Look for the 182RG (N1716R). We will be staying at the Courtyard by Marriott in Myrtle Beach. Plan on staying through lunch on Sunday to see the Sunday crowd (Kaye and Jill).

I know Frank Brown, Bill Jennings and Barnhill will be there.

Who else?

Looking forward to this.

My fingers are crossed, I just found out the plane I'm using for this trip goes in annual this weekend, but should be out in time. I hope :-(

Unfortunately, due to a family situation, I will be unable to attend the Fly-in this upcoming weekend. I sincerely apologize, and was hoping it wouldn't come to this, but things have to be addressed, so I have to pass this up.

Bob at Ramp66 should still be able to help everyone out who attends. Feel free to contact him at:

(843)272-5337 or 1-800-433-8918

Once again, I apologize, and hope to see you all sometime in the future.

-William

Looks like we are down to just a few here. Frank Brown, Tom Sisk, Bill Jennings, Agatha, and myself. Plus Kaye and Jill on Sunday.

I have to ask the question - Do we want to reschedule this for another time????

Sure, that would work. However, since I'm going to eat my hotel reservation, as long as I have a plane and the weather is flyable, I will be there this coming weekend.

We will be there if everyone else is coming and truth be known, we prefer a smaller crowd anyway. Hope the plane comes out of annual and the weather is doable.

if we re-do this at a different time (maybe Hilton Head area?) I might be able to make it... (not instead of, in addition to...)

I would like to go so lets do this some other time. I had a blow out down I-40, coming home from GSO Wings weekend. I was VERY fortunate to have 2 wonderful GSO police officers come out and help me change the tire to the spare and give me an escort to a tire shop where I had to them put on 2 new rear set of tires.

There are some issues with my brother in VA, and I'm basically putting my funding for the fly-in on the line to help him out. I was really looking forward to it, but I couldn't even make it to Greenville this past weekend to meet up with Carol and Dave. I'm just hoping it's worth it to help him. :/

I do hope I'll get to see everyone at some point in the near future. If anyone wants to suggest another date, I'd probably be able to go again after mid June (all of this mess should be cleared up by then).

Well, I'm flexible for it either way - y'all just let me know. If I don't fly down with Mark and Agatha, though, I'll drive back down here (I'm in NMB right now), as my mom just broke her hip and is in the hospital.

I'll be keeping close eye on both

Since my plane's here in Georgia and my engine is in Florida, a little delay would be good for me. To those that do go this weekend...have a great weekend!

I'm still planning on going, anyone else still in?

Agatha, Tom Sisk, Frank Brown, someone else and me for Saturday and some (most?) for saturday night dinner. Kaye and Jill on Sunday.

Tom has scoped out reataurants and has a veritable plethoria of choices for us. (At least one anyway). I have PM'd my cell number to Kaye, Frank and Bill. Anyone else need it?

Yep, Jill and I are still coming Sunday. Can't wait!!!!!

I had signed up and was planning on being there untill my freshly overhauled carb will not go rich enough. EGT was at 1900+ on runup and both mags failed.

I'm trying to think of a "rain date" since a number of people (including myself... bah) had to drop out of tomorrow's event. Doesn't have to be CRE (hey, who is up for Carowinds?), but I'm still interested in trying to go to one fly in this summer. Any ideas would be welcome...

Weekend of August 25th 2006, TTA, my 30th bday. PAARRRRTTTAAAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will aslo be Kayes, Diana and Agathas that day as well.

CRE is a great place to meet. I was going to try and come from Ohio, but my Mooney is getting a new AP and it was not finished on Friday as expected. I make the trip a couple of times a year and we always have a good time in NMB.

We're here. A small but intrepid group of folks. Here is a photo of the gang of four - Tom Sisk, Bill Jennings, his wife Sherrie (?), and daughter, Holly.

Later we went to the airport and met Frank Brown and his son. Wandered around the ramp looking at airplanes. A Velocity caught Tom Sisk's attention...

We will be having dinner in a bit, so gotta go...

More later.

Well if my memory serves me right that looks like Carol's Comanche behind the Velocity. Dave G.

It looks like Carol's, but it's not. A '59 Comanche 250... For sale BTW.

I just want to say two things:

1. We had a great time - Mark, Agatha, Bill, Sherry/i/ie, daughter Holly, Frank Brown, his son (urk, forgot the name - but a great young man and a fine utensil stacker!), Kaye, Jill, and moi . . . them what missed it, missed a lot!

2. I am NOT as fat as those pictures make me out to be!! (um, at least I HOPE I'm not!!) I'm blaming the fleece jacket. And shadows. Yeah... shadows did it. Hmmph.

Lots of seafood, good conversation, wind right down the runway... what more could ya want? :D

You're right about that Tom! We had a fantastic time! Made some significant additions to our list of friends!:yes:

Savannah? Savannah's great!!

Of course, I'm just a dang hitch-hiker . . . for now. ;)

Ack. I dunno - it's not due to a lack of trying, but with weather, wind, family emergencies and such, it's slowed waaay down. Luckily, I'm scheduled for four days this week, so we'll see what happens! It's taken me a bit longer to transition to the new 172's than I thought it would, but I'm making progress. AND I'm gonna have a REALLY strong right leg!! :D

Here, here. What a great flight! I learned a lot watching (and listening to) Kaye work the system. Hope we can get together again soon.

It was great meeting everyone, and the time just seems to go so quickly. The flying was fine each way, and my wife made it (although she didn't really enjoy the flying part AT ALL).

Good folks, good food, and a good time. Next time, I hope we can stay more than 27 hours. Yikes!

Bill...how did Holly do on the flight down and back? Does she like flying?

Holly was all smiles, and loved the airplane. "Daddy, we're taller than all the cars." Then later, "Daddy, we're taller than the trees." Then later, "We're taller than EVERYONE!" God bless her!

Mommy, on the other hand :hairraise:
