Touchdown! Greaser!
As some of you know, in 2002 my wife, Mary, and I bought an old airport hotel, and began a 7-year task to convert it into an all-aviation-themed pilot's lodging dream. We completed that task last year.
Last month, in another thread I wrote about acquiring a motorhome, and putting it on the line for rentals through the hotel. We have done this (and, in fact, it's already rented for this weekend) -- see it here: http://www.alexisparkinn.com/iowa_city_rv_rental.htm
Now, of course, all of our suites have names. The Corsair Suite; The Mustang Suite; The Amelia Earhart Suite, and 17 more. Each one decorated appropriately to the era. Last night, the very first person to rent the RV jokingly asked "What era of aviation are you going to decorate the motor home to reflect?" Quite frankly, it hadn't occurred to us to decorate the motor home in the same way as the hotel -- but we both looked at each other an exclaimed "Why, the RV Suite, of course!"
Okay, great idea(s) -- but despite having 7 years of experience hunting all over the country for aviation artwork and memorabilia, I am stumped as to where to turn for RV-3, -4, -6, -7, -8, -9, and -10 artwork. In fact, I don't recall ever seeing any RV artwork, in all the airshows and museums we've ever attended.
Anyone got any RV artwork laying around the hangar they want to part with? Has anyone got a suggestion as to where I might obtain RV art? Unlike the super-sized suites, we've only got half a dozen walls to decorate, so we don't need a lot, but I'd like to get some high quality pieces...
Thanks!
