You know, I really don't begrudge anyone anything, but there really is no justice in this world. As ya'll may know, I work for a company that produces and prints all three of the local base newspapers here in NE Florida, and I do all of the pre-press image corrections for them. Well, a good friend of mine that does the layout and design for the 3 papers has left for the day for an afternoon flight with the Blue Angels as a media representative. He begins the briefings at 10am and the flights begin at 1 o'clock. I did warn him that at some point during the ride he almost certainly will be taking a nap! He understands that, and is excited nevertheless...just as I would be! Boy, oh boy am I envious! But, it couldn't happen for a nicer guy, and I really am glad for him, but oh, how I wish it were me instead him going!

However, I did receive and invitation from the CO of NAS Jax to attend the "official" welcoming ceremony for the squadron on Friday night at the officer's club! I'll post pictures on Saturday.

You better or never show your face here again!! (jus' kidding)

Sounds like fun though, get a few autographs too.

At the same function a few years ago, I was privileged to meet Butch Voris, the first Blue Angel. What a great man! He was quite elderly and was in a wheel chair, but he was clear of eye and of extremely sound mind. He told the most amazing, and funny, stories to everyone he met. And the then current Blue Angels treated him with reverence...as did everyone else.

I loved the free beer and the food was freaking awesome! I had beer, boiled shrimp, beer, roast beef, more beer, wings, oysters on the half shell, more beer, cheese, meatballs, beer.....

Notice the territory I had staked out. Right next to the bar!

1) Viper East F-16 flight demo team
2) F-15 Eagle demo team
3) 2008 Blue Angels
4) NAS Jax CO and my friend Jennifer. She designed the poster. (looking gooood!)
5) Ellen Rykert, manages Military Publication. (Jax Air News, Mayport Mirror and the Kingsbay Periscope)

.......and lots more beer and food tomorrow!
