Good story, let's enjoy the bravery (and humor) of this young man and not get this sent to SZ. Thanks!

Army Spec. Zachary Boyd, a 2007 graduate of Keller Central High School, was in his sleeping quarters this week when the Taliban attacked in the rugged mountains of eastern Afghanistan. Boyd rushed to a defensive position clad in his helmet, vest and boxers -- the pink ones decorated with the "I Love NY" slogan. As luck would have it, an Associated Press photographer was working at Firebase Restrepo in the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan’s Kunar Province, where Boyd is stationed.
His boxers ended up on the front page of the Times.
"He said, ’I hear the Times is what they put on the president’s desk,’ " she said. "Then he told us, ’I may not have a job anymore after the president has seen me out of uniform.’ "
Photo is in the article.

He'll never hear the end of it.

At least it wasn't a thong...

I saw that in the NY Times and thought, no matter what this guy does in his life, he's always going to be remembered for fighting a war in his pink "I (heart) NY" boxers and flip-flops! :rolleye:

Just like Ron Howard - who has directed any number of significant films as an adult - said "No matter what I do, when I die, the NY Times headline is gonna read "OPIE'S DEAD""

i didnt see it but it sounds hilarious. i have a mental image :)
but it could have been a onesy with a trap door....

Mom was on local TV today.

Hey, don't knock him! He's from my daughers' high school!! ;-)

And I hear they were getting dressed or ready for bed when the enemy started shooting; you kind of drop everything and stand up and take notice! Though I'm not sure what the photographer was thinking if there were bullets flying!

P.S.--His red shirt is from Woolsey's, his favorite ice cream shop in Fort Worth.

Guy coulda been in a thong for all I care. Those guys are putting foot to a$$ for their country, being on the pointy end of the spear and all, and if he had to fight in his birthday suit the guy's still a hero to me.
