Well, I did not get a GoPro for Christmas. Got some other nice stuff, but no GoPro.

But I would still like to video my flights. Is anyone using their iPhones to record flights? If so, how do you mount, can you patch in radio communications, etc.?

iPhone 5.

That looks pretty cool but with the cheapest gopro only 30$ more is it really worth it considering you may not have all the mounts made specifically for the gopros.

I use an older iPod touch I have it shoots 720P video and certainly is not as clear and bright as the GoPro but it does what I need it to. I use one of those as seen on TV sticky mounts. I have noticed that when you put the camera on the passenger window it always looks like you are landing left of center. I noticed the same in VHS videos my wife shot back in the day.

The mount is very sticky they have mixed reviews but for me so far so good. I bought it at Walmart. I tried one other type of suction cup mount I bought from Amazon and it was garbage. I figure if the sticky stuff fails I can use velcro to hold the ipod in place. It holds very steady for what it is.

Take a passenger up and record the audio to a separate recorder and combine in post. :)
