Slightly used Eclipse anyone?

:nonod:

Taxis usually have several million stop and go miles on them.

No FIKI? Sorta defeats the purpose of the planes....

As Ron says, FIKI is done, and existing airplanes were/are scheduled to be retrofit with FIKI, just like with Avio NG and the aeromods. But here's the catch. If you bought an early Eclipse, then the additions would be done under warranty. Note that Eclipse is selling these aircraft AS IS. That means they are not currently scheduled for the upgrades, nor will Eclipse pay for them. The cost of the upgrades will be a negotiable item between the buyer and Eclipse.

Adding FIKI involves a handful of things. The most expensive part is that a bank of switches in the panel that is built into a computer board will have to be replaced to add a switch. The rest, as I recall, amounts to odds and ends. I have the details somewhere, and if someone wants me to look it up I will.

It's a shame that Eclipse has been going the way it has, but I still like the plane. It's on my "It'd be cool to own" list, even though I could never afford one.

Maybe somebody can finally buy a 1 million dollar Eclipse jet!

What an incredible opportunity!

After the days of the Eclipse positions for sale and re-sale at high and higher prices I don't feel sorry for them a bit. The entire Eclipse marketing machine that promised too much for too little money and collected deposits and didn't deliver. The whole thing gave me a bad taste from the beginning. When Eclipse was promising a $1 million dollar new twin engine jet, I was flying a $900k 1989 JetProp Malibu. I knew their promises were full of it.

Yeah, owning a day-VFR jet is (at least so far) an opportunity most guys don't often see.

With a portable GPS too, Wayne! Pretty impressive stuff.

From Avsig:
All Eclipse 500's today only have VOR/LOC navigation. Avidyne Avio, that the Dayjets have, has a GPS sensor that is not certified for any enroute or approach operations and does not have a moving map. The Garmin 496 that Eclipse provided gives the aircraft VFR GPS capability and a basic moving map.

My old Sundowner had more capable avionics!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Keep saving your money and you can have the same setup in the P.

Wonder if they'd take my 25 year old Piper in trade? It has only about 30,000 cycles on it; but better avionics.
