Skydiving

You should try a parachute made in the last 20 years. They ain't GA airplanes they've gotten better.:D
I made my first jump as a 16 year old solo student in 1954. I met my wife in 57 when I asked a buddy to pick me up after a jump. (no commercial drop zones in those days). He brought this gal along who looked like Susan Hayward. His loss my gain.
It's all about free fall. The jump is over when the canopy opens.
A fused right ankle from me screwing up badly ended my jumping.

I did 6 jumps (AFF) it's a lot of fun but it arches my back in a not-so-comfortable way in free fall. I would like to pick it back up just doing static line - flying under canopy is an absolute blast.

If you like canopy flying I have one word for you: Paragliding.

I been up in twin otter jump plane as a passenger in co pilot seat several times. The only way I would jump from the airplane if it's on fire. No thanks not for me. Good luck.

It's a blast, go for it! C- license here and I don't jump nearly enough! Too busy. :(

This was taken over Elsinore before they re-filled the lake with water. Probably 61 or 62

An old SGT-Major once noted, "Two things fall from the sky. Birds*&t and fools!"

Why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?

There are no perfectly good airplanes. And airplanes are boring, most amusing use of airplanes is getting jumpers off the ground.

I have quite a few static line jumps, mostly out of the back of C130's. Never did a free fall jump though.

Given the condition of some jump planes I've seen, I understand where that sentiment comes from. :D

we still talkin skydiving? how's my rolling stones rock-n-roll girl doin?

:D

Nice pictures!

I would love to skydive, but I fear, that I get hooked to a new time and money consuming hobby.

I have about 100 jumps. My favorite was landing on a beach in Mexico. The tourists sunbathing were pretty freaked out... :)

Also, skydiving through a solid cloud deck into a snow shower was interesting as well!
