Skiing is getting to be almost as expensive as flying

Ain't nobody around me to stab. Huge S turns slow you down, why on earth would anyone do that. My skis are modified racing skis setup of powder. (Stockli Scot Schmidts). I've clocked myself at 80MPH+.

The only real danger is some snowboarding gaper doing somethign totally unpredictable. I LOVE :nonod: when the knuckledraggers head to the steeps 1st thing in the morning after a good storm and side slip the whole damn run shaving off all the snow. So they can say "Dude, we hit the Coulair after an epic storm". Even though a toddler could side slip the empire state building without issue.

At least Alta is still holding out and fighting the good fight.

Not everyone blasts the mountain down at 80 MPH in skis, some actually go down really slowly doing huge S turns and swinging those sticks. Just as much as not all snowboarders are plowing down. Although I did it before, to try to flatten those moguls you guys leave behind :D

Point is, I don't think the problem is with the equipment. I don't know why you think it's only people in snowboards that do unpredictable things.
This is fun, it's like a Cirrus vs Biplane thread!. The parallels are remarkable.

Yep. If I dive the local lakes (quite big actually) it is cheap. But the vis sucks. Even diving the gulf isn't chep. And the drive sucks.

Wait, but now I have an airplane... Hmmm...

Put in two tanks and you W&B is shot probably.

Yep, big PREDICTABLE S turns. And some people enjoy skiing moguls, I do it from time to time to stay fresh. They like skiing nice, consistent moguls. Snowboarders screw those up too.

And, I don't do 80 unless NOOOOO one is around. Never know when an out of control knuckledragger is going to cut in front of you for no apparent reason.

My coworkers kids asked for snowboards for Christmas.... They got tele setups.

Once upon a time I made my living on snow skis. These days a ski plane and a few snowgos suits me just fine. :)

Lot of places rent tanks at the same places you can get a fill. when flying commercial, I send my own equipment- minus the fills.

Sorry about the thread divesion, bu yea, one reason I finally decided buying an airplane just for "hobby" reasons was that I was spending a lot of money on skiing, scuba, woodworking and who knows what else. Decided flying was the one thing I liked the best and it was time to make it happen. At some point, all of us will eventually fail the medical (read, I ain't getting any younger).
