Six Figure CFI

Funny post..
I visited a flight school at XXXX this past weekend and notice the owner/operator was handing out flyers.

I figured.. what not ask about the instrument course.

CFI, CFII, MEI instructor with 30+ years of teaching.

he mentions that most people need around 80 hours for private ( seems high ).. but what BLEW MY MIND...

He charges $200/hour for a Cessna 172 steam gauge AND
he charges $180/hour for instruction time....

$400 / hour ?

he said most of his PPC student leave with 80-90k in debt ... but 'are better pilots than you".

Sounds like we can guess why he's handing out flyers and not up flying.

CFI's in NY/LA area bill $50-70 per hour.

Only problem is that you have to MAKE 6 figures to afford to live there...

Just makes me respect the true CFI's more. The ones who aren't CFI's only to build hours for the airline job.

Keep your day job and instruct evenings and weekends.
