Simple Blackberry app for VFR flights

Wondering if the group can help me search for an app, I spent some time googling but came up short. I'd really like to find an app for a blackberry that shows my location on a vfr map of some sort. My lady would like to see whats ahead of her on her blackberry, and then identify that item on the ground. Of course, the app needs vfr maps for the US, and should locate the aircraft on the map using the blackberry's gps. Obviously, it needs to work with no cell or wifi coverage.
Not looking for weather, or airport info.

Any ideas guys?

If you find the android .apk file you can usually install it on BlackBerry. I've done that with a few apps and they've worked.

Thanks Ed. I see the crackberry forum reports many issues with doing this, I'm hesitant to screw up my berry.

think I'll keep looking....and hoping someone knows a blackberry app

The only issue I've had is that the app just plain doesn't work, and then I uninstall it. But I'm not really an app person. I have my BB because I wanted a non-android smart phone with a physical keyboard.

Some work, some don't, most are somewhere in between (partial functionality). A lot depends on how much they depend upon Google services rather than the native BB equivalents or other sources.

I would suspect aviation apps in general to have very low probabilities of working properly on the BB10 ART because they probably rely heavily on Google services. But hey, there's really no harm in trying. I've never had an .apk do anything worse than simply not work.

Just make a full backup first. I've never had to do a restore due to a cranky .apk, but you never know.

Also, check the Amazon store. Maybe someone has ported a suitable app over to Fire Phone. If it works on a Fire Phone, there's a pretty good chance it will work on a BB10.

I dont know if these folks have compatibility with a blackberry, but try this: FltPlan Go App
 
Seriously, a Blackberry? 7" Android tablets are cheap as chips and you can get free software for your lady to follow along on a much nicer to view screen.
 
iPhone is the best app for blackberry. Not really sure how blackberry is still in business.
 
Buy a cheap nexus 7. No data plan needed. You'll both be happy

Touch screen keyboards suck royal ass, so that leaves any Apple piece of **** out of the running. Google is mining every little thing I do, and doing who knows what with it. So, physical keyboard and not giving every little thing about me away leaves us with pretty much only one choice. If BB goes out of business, I will probably skip having a cell phone, and go back to a landline only.

I had a BB and various other hard keyboard phones, and I don't see where they suck less.:dunno: Screen real estate is where it is, that is the greatest restriction on transfer of information comes in. Whether a BB or touch screen on a regular phone size device, typing on them sucks, the 6+ is almost good, and the iPad is just fine. Thing is, I have a wireless BT keyboard that I can use with iOS, Anroid, or Windows for when I want/need a better keyboard, not sure if a BB would work.
 
you could try an open source tablet, i.e. something you could load Ubuntu or something similar on - however the problem then becomes dedicated support and available apps.

You can always get a soft touch bluetooth keyboard for an iPad. I like the tactile feel as well.

Yes it costs money, but the premium software, especially when coupled with ADS-B in and AHRS, has substantial information value when enroute, and adds a lot of information options when in a bind. For greatest options and benefits, you need an iPad.
 
go to the store and get an iphone. Install Foreflight or Garmin Pilot. Enjoy
Since the days when Blackberry's were popular, touch screens have come along way.
