I have a original "quartz" clock in my 172. When I bought it the fuse was removed to help keep the battery from going dead since the plane did not fly much before I bought it. I put the fuse back 3 years ago and the clock has been working since. But, it needs adjustment every couple days as it is always falling behind. I was thinking about having it replaced next time I go the avionics shop? But do I really need it? My I pad is right there and is always right. I just can't wear a watch as I have tried over the years.

Would like maybe a volt gauge and clock all in one if they such a thing?

Do you have a CO detector? I replaced my clock with a CO Guardian -553 about 15 years ago. It has Clock, timer, and other functions in addition to the CO detector. Won't drain your battery. The only downside is the requirement to replace the CO sensor every 5 years...
