Setback for Fort Worth "Future Pilots" program for HS students

According to the article pilots used to driving trucks (paraphrasing a bit) can't handle cross winds and gusts in light aircraft with low wing loadings. And they are pranging the Cub-Clones at a real high rate.

I think that's it, exactly. I have a number of hours in the Evektor SportStar. Love the plane. Flying both "normal" GA aircraft like the C172/C182 and the LSA's, the difference is pronounced.

Things happen faster (both on takeoff and landing), because you're lighter and more susceptible to the wind. With the right instructor, I think it can make a better pilot (just like tailwheel or glider training), but you do have to be on your toes.

Yikes, if an object misplaced by the pilot can so easily interfere with a control linkage, that doesn't sound very safe to me. I drop stuff in flight all the time.
