I'm surprised at all the backlash for recording. My life is pretty boring, so in the event anything exciting like this ever happened I hope I'd have the sense to record it.
I was wondering about that.
If I ever met him, I'd have to ask him to share some Tranya with me.
Folks like Nick perform a valuable function of keeping the authorities honest. I can't fault the LEOs in this instance, though I thought the fellow with the firearm was escalating things rather dangerously. Oh well, to a hammer everything looks like a nail. Still, without folks like Nick LEOs and their familiars could run roughshod over the population. Even with guys like Nick they try, and I suspect often succeed.
Stay in your bubble, keep your head down, don't make waves, speak when spoken to, don't raise your voice, watch your Ps & Qs, sit quietly until you are called, trim your hair, mind your manners, and most of all - Respect Authority.
I just threw up in my mouth some.
Not a gonad to be found anywhere.
In the very beginning of that video, that guy on the motorized scooter is Verne Troyer.

He videoed parts of the same event.

Yes, it's take the safe way out vs. do the right but potentially unsafe thing. I commend Nick for doing something he felt might prevent an abuse of authority by LEOs, at some risk to his own butt.Stay in your bubble, keep your head down, don't make waves, speak when spoken to, don't raise your voice, watch your Ps & Qs, sit quietly until you are called, trim your hair, mind your manners, and most of all - Respect Authority.

The man dropped. Almost immediately, a plain clothed man approached, showed his badge and pulled his gun (a real gun) and pointed it at the man's head.
When the man got up and started to leave again, the plain clothes officer readied his gun, and I was certain I was going to watch a murder right in front of me.
Thankfully, either the first officer hit him again with the Taser, or the man's legs were still not steady after the first tazing, because he dropped again and it was over. The man was cuffed and detained.

I actually took the video in case something went wrong and the gentleman being arrested (or his family) needed some evidence of what happened.
Thankfully, it wasn't needed. Don't care about fsme, personally.
Always have to be overly dramatic dontcha? Is EVERY police shooting a murder to you??
Wow, you really have a messed up mindset. Automatically you record in case those big bad cops doing something wrong to the poor innocent crazy looking guy.

A recording here at home is the reason why the cop was charged with Assault from an arrest he made where he kicked the guy in the head. This one was recorded on a dashcam but still proves that recordings are useful at times.
I appreciate the sentiment. But let's not go too far. I just recorded something thst happened in front of me. I wasn't really in any risk. If you see the angle, I always kept something between the officers and me, and I never got close enough to be in danger myself.
The risk to my own butt was about on par with tripping over my own shoes because I was looking at my phone
I would guess that he was a little disappointed that the officers did what they are supposed to do and he didn't get to capture them doing evil deeds.
The one time the police ever do anything the right way and it's when he's recording.[SARCASM]
In all fairness, I have said nothing bad about police here. I think the gun was a bit overkill to a non armed and subdued individual, but they did this the way they should have. Multiple warnings, multiple attempts to get the man to resign, then used nonlethal force as option 1.
If all events went this way, I suspect the majority of the public would have a much different opinion. The cops were good.

WOW - I just saw a photo of the guys face and you were right about the strange smile on his face. It reminded me of a movie bad guy who was about to blow up something.
What's up with that stainless steel baseplate on the duty weapon in the holster? Or is that a taser on the guy's right side in the photo?
(Edit: In other words, what does LAPD carry that can even have a thick stainless baseplate on the magazine?)
(Double edit: I don't care what nutjobs do at LAX, nor if anyone films them.)
(Triple edit: Because, it's L.A. - of course stupid crazy crap is happening.)
Lies! Lies! They were all framed. Cops never do anything wrong. Nor do their co-workers. They should all be granted immediate sainthood by the pope. Don't believe me? Just ask them.

Not all cops. Right now we are counting down the days until one of us here in my office is fired or forced to resign. We all did a happy dance the other day when they escorted her out of the office and took her gun away. We are hoping for criminal charges, but wer'e not sure it will happen.
It's good to hear that your precinct is attempting to clean house, but there are way too many out there that pretend things never happened, or outright lie to cover up another badge. Of course if even one does that, it is way too many. I feel if any officer is found to be covering for another officer, both should be terminated with no pay, no severance, nothing. Not sure why there's such a mentality of covering up.
Why do people hold their iPhones in portrait mode when filming things?

All you cop haters, think what this country/state/town/ would be like with out them? Are you willing to leave your stuff at home unprotected while you work without any law? because with out enforcement, there is no law.
It gets pretty frustrating when you see this type of sh-t every day, IMHO this perp. should have been shot right away. Bang, problem solved, 10 days off with pay, I'm good with that.

I do now. What's your point? It's just stuff - all of which can be replaced. And would be after a call to the insurance company. And when I'm home, (and even when I'm not) I'm carrying. I don't need the police for anything.
