I'm sure you guys have answered this over and over again so apologies for bringing it up again if so. I couldn't seem to find the specific answer through a search.

I previously held a class 2 medical certificate. It was issued on 04/05/2005. and since I only need a 3rd class to fly what I do, will that suffice for the requirements of basic med?

Here is the FAQ from the FAA...
Do I have to always “hold or have held a medical certificate” in the past 10 years? A: No. There is no 10-year requirement, or a 10-year “look-back”. You only need to have held a medical certificate at any point after July 14, 2006. If you meet that provision, then you never have to hold a medical certificate again to operate under BasicMed, unless you develop one of the conditions identified in 14 CFR 68.9 that require you to get a special issuance (i.e., psychosis, epilepsy, heart replacement, etc.).

So if I recall correctly my class 2 medical turns into a class 3 medical after 12 months, or was it 36 months (I was under 40 at the time)? Then my now class 3 medical would expire in 12 more months, right? So if a second class medical was issued 04/05/2005 then I did have a class three medical that was valid after July 14, 2006, no?

So I can go the route of basic med.

I used to be so much better at this stuff.
Glad for the assistance from ya'll.

Thanks in advance.

If your last medical certificate was an unrestricted one of any class issued in April 2005, which was never revoked you have met the words of the regulation:

"At any point after July 14, 2006, have held a medical certificate issued under part 67 of this chapter;"

Basicmed is looking for the medical to have been valid at that time. Another way of saying it is that it expired after July 14,2006 and wasn’t revoked, withdrawn, etc.
