My dad landed at DTO yesterday and said "All these people were filming me and I couldn't figure out why. I park, and this was behind me"

Hind? Between Gimp and his cohorts and this, I'm thinking this is the red dawn.

I saw that beast departing Addison yesterday! Could not believe it.

Resistance is futile Americanski.

Did any of our 'friends' from US Aviation come out and look?

They poured out when a group of Chinooks did touch and goes on Alpha.

Airport I learned at had a company that operated 3 Mi-8 helicopters. They were training foreign military pilots how to fly them. Mostly south americans but still odd to see. Their call sign was "Ivan".

I sure hope the pilot tried his best Russian accent when requesting takeoff from the tower. :)
I know I would have!! (my Russian accent is VERY convincing since I spoke it fluently 20 years ago)

Hind is bad news for an enemy. Will absolutely ruin your picnic if it gets mad. Interesting to see they had the pods attached to the hard points. Slows it down a fair amount, but looks bad-azz.

You really get that much oil dripping out of the exhaust pipes?
When I pull it through prior to engine start I get a bit, and a bit after shutdown but not a huge amount, mostly to keep the hangar floor clean. Radials are like Harley's, they mark their territory.

The rumor that the oil seals are there to keep oil from getting in from outside the engine are just rumors... ;^)

That is awesome! I tried to find the scene in Rambo FBPII where he's crashed in the Huey and waits for Podovsky to fly in really close, and the BOOM, RPG to the face!

Visually-modified Puma in Rambo, but we get the idea I think. ;)

Ahhh, good to know! I knew that the huey they used was something different, but I had no idea about the Puma.

All I see is those big wings and all that ordinance dripping off of it, and think Hind or die!!

You know what's funny is that at the Tan Son Nhat airport in Saigon, Vietnam there is a military ramp with with a bunch of Russian helicopters, and a row of Hueys left over from the war, all painted up in Vietnamese colors. A couple of them are still operational.
