Aliens downed Tunguska meteorite to protect our planet from devastation, stated Russian scientist Yuriy Lavbin about the 100 year old mystery surrounding the massive Siberian explosion.

Most scientists think the blast was caused by a meteorite exploding several miles above the surface. But Labvin thinks quartz slabs with strange markings found at the site are remnants of an alien control panel, which fell to the ground after the UFO slammed into the giant rock.

Sounds like a very reasonable theory to me.
 
It's nothing short of startling how many people need some kind of supernatural explanation for a simple natural event.
 
Wow, I remember the bad old days when Pravda was the official communist propaganda paper. Now it's almost as good as the sadly defunct Weekly World News! some of those sidebar stories are absolutely hillarious.

Back in the day Pravda was far less tabloid as well. The articles were all well written. All were written from the USSR's point of view, but I never recall reading News of the World type of stuff like this in it and I was reading it daily for several years.
